The 42nd Love Letter by

One Page Love

Love Letter #042 Finally shipped my new personal One Pager + blog, now built with Webflow using Mast.

Also been adding more visuals/context to my project graveyard. What a ride (failing forward) getting to work on OPL full-time!

Look out for a case-study soon on moving over from WordPress to Webflow. Wasn’t too bad and feels good to have a fresh start (with no plugins to update). Shout-out to Matt Evans for helping with the build.

Rob Hope Cheers,
Rob

Holo Shader, now in Framer!

Introducing a brand new addition to our Shader library: Holo. A gradient shader that simulates how light splits into rainbows on holographic surfaces. Instead of colors, you control the math that shapes the colors, and the way the shader warps and flows. Holo is now available in the Insert Panel, under Shaders.

Experimental One Pager (with content loading up in iFrames) demonstrating the Visual Expression in Web Design. Author Jonas Pelzer shares context "I'm developing an experimental design tool which aims to show that a large visual variance can be achieved by manipulating individual design parameters. To gain further insights, I created five single-page websites on different topics with fictitious content that can be designed with the tool on a desktop computer. To avoid design decisions being influenced by browser default styles, the design parameters are randomized at the beginning. Your contribution to designing one or more of these pages would be invaluable to my research. Results will be documented by clicking the submit design button at the end of your design process."

Landing Page Templates.

Here are the Landing Page templates I really enjoyed recently. View all recent templates.

Ash
Ash
'Ash' is a One Page portfolio template designed using modern trends and built for the Webflow platform. Features include parallax scrolling, big typography, accordion style projects section, team/services sliders and awards section. A great start for any creative studios and marketing agencies. There is a contact page link in the header (outside our rules) but allowing this template in as the design is top draw and single link easy to remove/edit.
Litho ReactJS
Litho ReactJS
'Litho' is a multipurpose ReactJS template crafted by ThemeZaa with over 37+ Landing Page demos. The theme demos are great starting points to save you a bunch of time and cover almost every category imaginable. Here is the Single Page portfolio demo where you would could out from the project thumbnails to live websites.

Digital Snacks

My favorite online finds.

A few resources for your next project but also some inspiring links to take a break with. Experienced anything special recently? Holla.

The iA Notebook - "Watermark lines guide your pen. As your words come into focus, the lines fade into the background." - beautiful copy, beautiful product. Make sure you watch the short vid too with the ambient sounds.
Most Searched Playground - If you have a ton of work to do, this is a great place to procrastinate. Google have put together an interact scene to try find their 25 muot popular searches. h/t @jsnbrsc
Transparent Turntable - Sure a few purists will hate it but what a clean, ultra minimal design. h/t minimalissimo
Tiny Xmas Doodles - 18 adorable and charming illustrations that capture the whimsical spirit of Christmas.
How many things should there be? - Fun short reminder by Jason Cohen on our "productivity" to-do lists. The last point about archiving all email is gold too.
Mark Ruffalo on personal brands - Golden 3 nuggets of advice (when to quit, debt, personal brand) by Mark Ruffalo at 17min mark.
75 Design Podcasts - Curated list in Notion. Kinda stunned (and honored) that the Yo! Podcast is the only one from Africa 🌍
Try font smoothing - Hot Tip #59 is to consider font smoothing. Simply put, adding the CSS font-smooth property to a font will trim it down very slightly. While this effect won’t look great on all of your Landing Page typography, it’s particularly effective on ‘chunky’ fonts. When applied correctly, it can really help polish your typography. ps. this 14-year-old piece
