What it means

It can compare plans, products, workflows or an old approach with a new one. The row labels do much of the work: they define what is being compared. Consistent units, clear headings and honest qualification make a table more useful than a field of unexplained checkmarks.

Use it in practice

Choose attributes that answer real questions and put important differences early. Plan how the relationship between headers and cells survives on a narrow screen.

Watch out for

Do not compare unlike measurements or hide unfavorable information in ambiguous labels. Horizontal scrolling needs a clear cue if it is necessary.
